2008 Mazda 6

The 2008 Mazda 6 was the first year in which the wagon option was not offered, instead, consumers could choose from the sedan or the hatchback. Both of which were termed great cars by most of those who purchased them for many reasons. Probably the most dominant reason why consumers tend to purchase the Mazda 6 is because of the gas mileage that these vehicles get. In the city the car will get around twenty-one miles per gallon, while on the highway, the car will get around twenty-six miles per gallon. Though this may not seem like much for today's time, during 2008 this was considered one of the best fuel mileage vehicles to purchase. In addition because of the fuel mileage the Environmental Protection Agency gave the car a six out of ten scoring for the amount of air pollution that the vehicle puts out, with ten being the best and something that all cars strive for, however, it is hard to get.

The Mazda 6 was available in a manual and automatic transmission with either the option of a four cylinder or six cylinder engine. The four cylinder engine puts out around 156 horsepower, while the six cylinder engine puts out around 212 horsepower. Performance wise, most people found that straight off the line, the four cylinder gave the best performance in terms of speeding up faster. However, in the long run the six cylinder performed just as well. In terms of transmission, the manual transmission did produce a better take off time, going from zero to sixty in 7.5 seconds. This is not a great time, however, for a sedan it is pretty impressive performance.

Ride wise, the Mazda 6 performed fairly decent. Traveling in the city at slow speeds, no bumps or changes in pavement were significantly noticeable. However, when on the highway traveling at speeds over sixty five miles per hour, the car did tend to go with the road, which means that every bump or weave in the pavement the car did go with. This seemed to be the only complaint that professionals had with car in terms of handling. Overall, most professionals agreed that the handling of the Mazda 6 was one of the best in its class. These professionals did note that you could hear the road while traveling in the Mazda 6 since the sounds did make their way into the cab of the vehicle.

The interior of the car is quite roomy for a smaller car, with adequate foot and head space, as well as cargo room for those things that a person packs with them. Overall, the room and performance of the car was a real value for consumers. The starting price for a 2008 Mazda 6 was around $19,000 and would increase with the extras that people could have on the car. For the price, consumers were getting a high performance vehicle that could handle the challenges of the everyday road well, which was why it steadily became a popular seller for Mazda.
