2008 Audi R8

The 2008 Audi R8 was one of the most highly profiled cars available in 2008. It had the looks that were futuristic while still being able to perform at a practical level, which did help with the popularity of the car. Performance wise the car has a 4.2 liter V8 engine that is capable of producing around 420 horsepower. It actually shares many of the performance aspects as the Lamborghini, however, at a price that more people could afford. This was the goal of Audi at the time, as the 2008 R8 was completely redesigned from previous years, with safety and performance in mind that meet the standards that German automakers put into every auto that they produce.

For those that want to attract attention, the Audi R8 was the car to have since it had the looks to turn heads, but the performance to back it up. Looks wise, probably the most dominant feature was the sleek looks of the R8, with a huge wheel base. This gave it a more sportier look than other cars were sporting at the time. In fact, most professionals termed the car as having a sporty look that could rival the Ferrari and the Lamborghini, which was notable. The car sits low to the ground which does help with handling. Even at top speeds, the Audi R8 could handle curves with elegance and with little effort from the driver.

Safety wise, the Audi R8 included all the standards that you would expect with any vehicle. This includes anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, as well as airbags that are designed to protect the drivers that are seat mounted and those airbags that protect the knees. Visibility wise, the Audi R8 offers a back up camera that can help prevent those accidents that occur from hitting an object while reversing. However, even the back window and large side mirrors allow for more viewing in the rear than other sports cars of the same class, which was a huge plus for the Audi R8 and perhaps did help in its popularity with consumers.

Overall, the car was considered to be one that could rival most high class Italian sports cars without having the price tag that the Italian sports cars possess. However, there were a few flaws with the Audi R8 that included issues with visibility due to the low roof of the car, as well as many believing that the huge motor that the Audi R8 possesses is a bit of overkill. But, those that are Audi R8 lovers would disagree with these views. And overall, these few negatives about the car did not really affect the sales of the car. Price wise the car cost around six figures, which is still much less than the competition. The car was designed to protect the image of the Audi automaker, which it certainly did with the Audi R8. However, performance wise, the car still took some awards with the consumer world.
